Continuous Heat-Treat Operations

In July 2014, TimkenSteel announced plans to open an additional continuous heat-treat facility in the U.S. to produce more value-added steel for demanding applications. The facility will be fully operational within two years and have capacity for 50,000 process-tons annually of 4-inch to 13-inch bars and tubes.

In-Line Forge Press

The TimkenSteel 3,300-ton in-line forge press at the Faircrest Steel Plant in Canton, Ohio, offers customers sound-center engineered steel bars that can unlock new operating efficiencies. The forge press uses an innovative large-bar forged-rolled process, which TimkenSteel developed and installed to enhance center soundness of a larger cross-section of TimkenSteel® special bar quality steel.

Intermediate Finishing Line

The TimkenSteel intermediate finishing line at the Gambrinus Steel Plant in Canton, Ohio, increases operational efficiencies by incorporating the latest technologies and employing lean processes, significantly eliminating product touches and material movements.

Second Ladle Refiner

A second ladle refiner – combined with the TimkenSteel large bloom continuous caster coming in 2014 – are centerpieces of the current Faircrest Steel Plant expansion strategy. TimkenSteel expects the refiner and caster to increase the plant’s shippable capacity by 25 percent and enable the production of a broader range of large-diameter engineered steel bars.

Ultrasonic Test (UT) Inspection Line

The TimkenSteel ultrasonic test (UT) inspection line at the company’s Faircrest Steel Plant in Canton, Ohio, increases TimkenSteel large bar finishing capacity and helps ensure large bar sound-center quality.

Precision Machined Ring Gear Preforms

TimkenSteel manufactures precision machined ring gear preforms (or blanks) at our St. Clair Plant in Eaton, Ohio. We custom-designed these precision steel components for some of the largest names in the automotive industry. In the past decade, TimkenSteel has played a vital role in helping advance automotive engine, driveline and transmission technology.

Planetary Gears

A leading supplier of value-added steel products for planetary gear components, TimkenSteel continues to develop enhanced processing and supply chains from steelmaking through gear-cutting preparation.
